Trophies
The DPCA National, and all of the many competitions/activities associated with it, have always enjoyed a certain enviable reputation in the AKC parent club community. Members of our club have every right to be proud that our National has always been well planned, professional and innovative. One very important reason why we have enjoyed this enviable reputation is the high quality of the trophies we offered. The Cadillac of breeds deserves the best!
Many of us can remember days gone by when DPCA chapter clubs and members set aside money each year for two things – ads in the National catalog and National trophy donations. But a trip down that same memory lane does not reveal the endless need for $$ to fund rescue efforts, funds needed for health research, money to fight BSL, anti-cropping and spay/neuter legislation. DPCA and chapter club funds are needed by so many more worthy causes now than they were in days gone by.
All of you are aware, just as I am, that our National activities are extremely important to the financial health of our club. Needed dollars are raised to help our dogs during the National every year. With that in mind, I have been doing an informal survey to determine why Doberman lovers attend the National. I included people from various income levels, geographic areas, age groups, and competition venues. Three reasons mentioned by nearly everyone were 1) seeing Dobe friends from far away, 2) competing with my dog, and 3) adding a National trophy to my collection. After giving lots of thought to reasons 1 – 3, I have decided that a donation to the trophy fund is not taking that money away from rescue, health research, or political action. High quality trophies are an important reason why people attend our National.
Please help us continue to offer high quality trophies by sending your donation.
