PERMISSION TO CROSS POST
In just over a month, the country will be remembering that day 10 years ago when the world changed. Part of our collective remembrance should and will be tribute paid to and recognition made of those teams of dogs and their human partners who searched the rubble of destruction to try and offer glimpses of hope to desperate families. These teams were themselves at risk. Although few of them found survivors, many were instrumental in uniting families with the remains of a dear father, husband, son, mother, wife, daughter or friend.
Their story has not been fully shared until now. The Tails of Hope Foundation will be honoring the men, women and dog search and rescue partners of 9/11 at a special Recognition Ceremony. It will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, September 11, 2011 at Liberty State Park, immediately across New York Harbor from Ground Zero. There were over 950 working dog teams at the three now sacred sites, together with the Fresh Kills Landfill on Staten Island.
Jeffrey P. Helsdon is a Doberman Pinscher Club of America past AKC Delegate, as well as past Legislative Director, Corresponding Secretary and Board Member. He is now the co-producer of this event. The linked document will explain about the event planned for the 9-11 Tribute Ceremony.
