Make sure you have filed all Form 990s

Dear Chapter Club officer:

While our members are likely in compliance, our job is to let you know what is happening in the regulatory world.

The Internal Revenue Service has a list of nearly 365,000 nonprofits that have not filed a Form 990 in the last three years.  If it is not filed by May 17, you may face revocation of your tax exempt status.

The Urban Institute’s National Center for Charitable Statistics has developed a simple tool to find out if you need to file. Here’s how in 3 easy steps:
(1) Go to the NCCS website and on the first line, click “click here” at the end of the sentence.
(2) Select the name of your state and then enter Doberman Pinscher Club of America and click submit. If there is an alert “FILE NOW” by your club’s name, then
(3) File a 990 by May 17 or your nonprofit’s tax-exempt status will be automatically revoked.

For most of our chapter clubs, you can file a 990-N in lieu of a complete 990 as long as your club’s annual income is less than $25,000.

There may be errors in the data base or if you recently filed, it may not reflect that filing yet.  If you have any questions about this data base which is being used by the IRS, please call the National Center for Charitable Statistics at 1.866.518.3874.

The DPCA does NOT file a group return that includes your chapter club.  In order to do that, we would have to receive financial info and other data from you.  So you must file this form.  If you do not, you will lose your exempt status and we will have to drop your name from our group exemption list.

For more information from the IRS, please click here.  To go directly to the site to file the Form 990 N, go to this website -  http://epostcard.form990.org/.
