I have owned dogs all my life. As a child I grew up with a Pomeranian and a German Shepherd. I bought the AKC book of dog breeds and was drawn to the Doberman. In 1980 I purchased my first Doberman, “Duke,” and have had at least one ever since. I was bitten by the show bug in the early 1980s, showing in both conformation and obedience. After my children were born in the late 1980s, I stopped showing but always shared my home with a Doberman.
In 2005, once my children were grown, I jumped back into the show ring. Owner-handled, I quickly finished our red boy, “Tyson.” All of my current dogs go back to my beloved boy, including the 2019 National Specialty Winner, “Diana”, and the 2025 National Winners Bitch, “Della”.
As a DPCA member in the 1980s, I served as the DPCA OFA Liaison. Long before online OFA reports, I compiled the quarterly OFA-certified Dobes, which were published in the “Pipeline”.
I am active on the Dobequest Volunteer Committee and was involved with the Legislative Committee. In November 2007 I became the Longevity Chairperson, and since 2008 I have served as the DPCA Webmaster.
I retired from the marketing research industry after 40 years, ending my career as a director at a top-five global marketing research firm. I live on 19 acres with my husband and five dogs.
I am honored to be the DPCA First Vice President, and I pledge to always protect the breed we all love.
