Function
The photos below are provided so the judge/student can have a visual sense of activities that a Doberman may encounter in their everyday lives. They may be involved in the tough workaday life of a police/guard dog, requiring strength, agility, and stamina. They may be used in search and rescue, guide dogs for the blind, therapy, and/or competitive performance sports. Many are family companions and protectors of home and hearth. This is a truly versatile breed.
It is important to understand the variety of work that a Doberman must do, so that one can appreciate that the standard is written to require physical and mental attributes of a dog that can perform these tasks.
